Following the Advertising Standard Authority's (ASA's)
decision to break its links with the Nightingale Collaboration and end the
associated systematic attacks on Complementary Medicine, this campaign website
has been taken down
If you need advice on this issue, beyond what is available
from your governing body, then we suggest you try the
The Alliance for Natural Health
The ASA will still attack complementary therapists
websites on an
individual basis...
We recommend you:
- Ignore communications from the ASA regarding
websites. Remember they have no legal authority and all
responses are entirely voluntary
- Or complain to the ASA about letters they issue masquerading
as regulatory or governmental bodies not meeting their own code
of practice.
- Write to your MP complaining about the harassment activities of the ASA
and its underhand practices. Ask that your MP writes to the ASA
and demand that they adapt their codes to protect your human
rights and use complementary therapists to develop those new
codes.
-
NB: Please check with your governing body that
your website complies with UK legislation Our campaign was against the ASA, its codes and how it
implements them, not the UK law - which includes Human Rights
legislation giving you the right to a practice. The ASA codes
appear to be ignoring and contravening that legislation.
- Most governing bodies are now in discussions and
negotiations with the ASA. Write to your professional body to
find out their position. Make sure they are battling hard with
the ASA to protect your rights. Some professional bodies are
working hard to protect their members rights, unfortunately
others are treating the ASA as if it knows something about the
promotion of complementary therapies while it has demonstrated
time and time again IT DOES NOT.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THE PRACTITIONERS, THERAPISTS AND
PATIENTS THAT SUPPORTED THIS CAMPAIGN AND GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE
UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO BE UNFAIRLY ATTACKED BY THE ASA IN THE FUTURE
We have left our
